2004 Convention  Helpful Facts & Information Sheet

Dress: Casual. Bring & wear clothes consistent with the weather. Southwestern Ohio can be hot and muggy from mid-June onward. Members wear shorts or slacks and casual shirts to the events on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Don't forget your swim wear if you're staying at the hotel. The banquet on Saturday is a mixture. Some folks dress casual. However, most dress it up a little with sports coats for men and evening attire for women.


Limousine Service: Cincinnati International Airport is right across the river in Kentucky--about 30 minutes from the hotel. Marriott Guest services has recommended the following limousine/charter bus companies:

Hospitality Room:During the entire convention, a hospitality room will be open for members. Members bring their scrap books with pictures of their collection and people sit around and chat, look at books, and generally take a break. The hospitality room always has tables and chairs and something to drink (soda, tea, coffee, water, etc.).


Synopsis of Events

Thursday: Registration & commemorative pickup first thing in the morning.  If you have items for the auction or member's/tops & bottoms table they need to be delivered to the appropriate committee. In the afternoon, Shirley Smith will speak, we will have a short general membership meeting, show and tell (bring a milk glass item you want to know more about or share with the group), and a milk glass jewelry sharing talk.


Friday: Morning registration and commemorative pickup. At 9 A.M. we will have a general member meeting followed by Lorraine Kovar discussing Westmoreland Glass. The auction preview and lunch will be from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. The auction starts at 1:30 P.M. and usually lasts until 6:30  P.M. Dinner will be on your own.


Saturday: We have a membership business meeting in the morning followed by Tom Felt talking about milk glass candlesticks. Folks break for an early lunch and the dealer sales areas/member's tables open promptly at noon. Dealer's areas close at 3:00 P.M. Saturday evening is the banquet. Social hour starts around 6:00 and dinner is at 7:00 P.M followed by the main speaker, Bing Hilton,  talking about Greentown Glass.


Sunday: People usually meet in the hospitality room to see friends and say goodbye or use it as a jumping off point to explore the local area if they are staying longer.
