The 2011 convention will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24 in Dearborn, Michigan at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. www.dearborn.hyatt.com The Hyatt Regency is located 5 minutes from the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village which contains a collection of historic artifacts and buildings amassed by Henry Ford. www.thehenryford.org Like the 2010 convention in Springfield, Illinois, attendees may visit the local sites such as the Henry Ford Museum on the pre-convention day of Thursday, September 22. To obtain the reduced group hotel rates, reservations must be made August 18.

Friday will consist of lectures on milk glass followed by our auction in the afternoon. Over 250 choice pieces of milk glass will be available for members to bid on. Saturday morning will begin with “show and tell” where members can bring in pieces of milk glass from their collections to obtain or provide insight. The dealer room will then open and provide another opportunity to expand or further complete our collections. After lunch, we will break up into smaller groups and alternate through a variety of stations where we will be able to interact with speakers and have close up inspection of their displays. The convention will conclude with dinner on Saturday night.

We have several speakers covering a number of topics. A glass restoration specialist will explain the techniques and materials used to repair damaged milk glass. If members wish to bring their damaged pieces to the convention, he will be more than happy to discuss repairs, provide an estimate and ship the piece back to you when it is restored. We are also planning to hear our own members speak on milk glass shoes, American Victorian painted vases, milk glass novelties and Mckee animal covered dishes.

Membership in the NMGCS is required to attend the convention. Please see the membership application and convention registration forms on this web site to join the society and register for the convention.

The commemorative for the 2010 convention was the WG rooster.  Commemoratives are only available to members and are limited to first come, first served.
