photo galleryGallery FeatureNapoleon's Funeral CoachReference: Warman, Second Frontispiece (2nd and 3rd editions) This coach, the rarest of the group, is not shown in any other of the standard milk glass references. Warman alone provides us with the following full description: "Here is a replica of the coach used to transport Napoleon to his final resting place. This 3-piece item has a black base, 6 1/4 inches by 3 1/2 inches by 3/4 inches high; a green coach, 5 1/4 inches long and 5 1/2 inches to top of finial; a green lid with a few white streaks running through the green. 'Made in France' appears on the bottom of the base." The above information was taken from Opaque News, June 1993 and written by Frank Chiarenza. It was believed at the time that this may have been a product of Portieux-Vallerysthal, but no documentary evidence has as yet come to light. Other possibilities are Baccarat or St. Louis.. Since that article was written, a member has been fortunate enough to acquire the elusive coach and allowed us to photograph it for the website. This exciting find of a gorgeous piece of green slag milk glass is a rarity that we can all feast our eyes on. The base is not included and was probably lost through the many years.
